TV Shows on YouTube?

Yes, you could watch your favorite TV shows on YouTube, and its going to be legal! If you thought that you should find it very hard to catch up with the show that you missed, thanks to a lousy relative’s visit, you are wrong. YouTube in collaboration with CBS is soon planning to air on the 5 billion-per-month-traffic-generating site, Star Trek, Dexter and Beverly Hills, 90210 in its initial phase.

But there is a catch. The full length episodes will have to grace the presence of advertisements that would be omnipresent throughout the video! You will have to bear with these ads especially in the beginning and the end of the video; not to mention intervening ads during the course of the video. But if can bear with them on TV where there is a compulsion to watch them, you could as well forward the video if you have quite a decent and speedy broadband connection.

YouTube is the world’s biggest video sharing domain, with 44% of all videos being watched online in the US, seen on this site. Although reports from ComScore allude that the average duration of an online video is 2.9 minutes, longer videos are becoming of the online giant. The profit arising out the tie up would be shared between You-Tube and CBS.

To sum up, the idea of airing TV shows on YouTube (legally) is a welcome move and I bet we are all awaiting its rapid implementation. When people are getting tired of downloading torrents with a thrifty number of seeds at very low speeds, the idea of watching episodes of favorite TV shows one by one on You Tube comes as a breather!
